OTTAWA, Ontario, June 03, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Following an intense campaign period, lively rivalry, and more than 19,000 votes cast by Canadians nationwide, the 2026 Cutest Pets on Parliament Hill competition has formally announced its victors.

Organized by the Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI), this year’s awards ceremony for pets took place on June 2 at Metropolitan Brasserie. The event gathered parliamentarians, political aides, journalists, and their furry companions for an evening that highlighted the happiness, friendship, and bonding that animals contribute to our lives—whether on Parliament Hill or at home.

And the winners are:

  • Cutest Dog 2026: Tuukka
  • Cutest Cat 2026: Coco
  • Cutest Other Pet 2026: Nugget
  • Best Dressed Pet 2026: Bella

Now in its fourth edition, the competition attracted a record-breaking 142 entries from Members of Parliament, Senators, staffers, and Press Gallery members. Because of the exceptionally high number of participants, CAHI increased the number of finalists in both the dog and cat categories from 10 to 15 for the public vote.

“This year’s contest once again captured the fun, personality and bipartisan spirit that has made Cutest Pets on Parliament Hill such a beloved tradition,” said Dr. Catherine Filejski, President and CEO of CAHI. “Beyond the excitement of the competition, this event is also an opportunity to highlight the benefits of having our pets live longer, healthier lives.”

The evening included a town-crier, pet-themed cocktails, red carpet moments, and plenty of playful paw-litics as finalists and attendees came together to honor the unique connection Canadians on the Hill have with their animals.

This contest not only draws attention to the vital role pets play in our daily lives, but it also underscores the significance of CAHI’s efforts to improve access to veterinary medicines, supporting healthier animals for a healthier Canada.
