OTTAWA, Ontario, June 03, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Following an intense campaign period, strong rivalry, and more than 19,000 votes cast by Canadians nationwide, the 2026 Cutest Pets on Parliament Hill competition has finally revealed its champions.

Organized by the Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI), this year’s pet-friendly awards ceremony took place on June 2 at Metropolitan Brasserie. The event gathered parliamentarians, political staff, journalists, and their furry companions for an evening dedicated to celebrating the happiness, friendship, and bond that animals bring into our lives — both inside and outside of Parliament Hill.

Here are the winners:

  • Cutest Dog 2026: Tuukka
  • Cutest Cat 2026: Coco
  • Cutest Other Pet 2026: Nugget
  • Best Dressed Pet 2026: Bella

Now in its fourth edition, the contest attracted a record-breaking 142 entries from Members of Parliament, Senators, Hill staffers, and members of the Press Gallery. Because of the overwhelming response, CAHI expanded the finalist group in both the dog and cat categories from 10 to 15 contenders for the public vote.

“This year’s contest once again captured the fun, personality and bipartisan spirit that has made Cutest Pets on Parliament Hill such a beloved tradition,” said Dr. Catherine Filejski, President and CEO of CAHI. “Beyond the excitement of the competition, this event is also an opportunity to highlight the benefits of having our pets live longer, healthier lives.”

The night featured a town-crier, pet-themed cocktails, red carpet appearances, and plenty of playful paw-litics as finalists and attendees came together to celebrate the unique bond that Hill Canadians share with their animals.

The competition not only draws attention to the vital role pets play in our daily lives, but also underscores the significance of CAHI’s mission to expand access to veterinary medicines that promote healthier animals for a healthier Canada.
