PerkyPet AI, a veterinary-created artificial intelligence platform focused on proactive pet wellness, has named seasoned technology executive Jamal Jackson as its new Global Head of Applied AI. In this capacity, Jackson will oversee the growth and expansion of the company’s AI functions, furthering PerkyPet AI’s goal of enabling better-informed preventive care for animals and their owners through routine health tracking.

“Being an animal enthusiast and the caretaker of an 80-pound dog who has influenced everything from my daily habits to how I plan trips, this mission resonates with me on a personal level,” Jackson said. “I recognize how much can occur between scheduled vet checkups and how tough it can be to determine if a minor shift in behavior matters. What attracted me to PerkyPet AI is that we are developing a clinically grounded system that helps pet owners comprehend their animal’s health over time, instead of merely another chatbot that provides responses lacking context. My priority is making sure our AI upholds the strictest benchmarks for safety, precision, and dependability while assisting families in shifting from reactive to proactive pet care.”

Jackson brings more than 15 years of experience in building and scaling technology products across large enterprises, emerging AI firms, and startups supported by well-known venture capital firms such as Sequoia Capital, Founders Fund, and Techstars. Prior to joining PerkyPet AI, he served in engineering leadership capacities at organizations including Jumpcut, Box, and Apple. At PerkyPet AI, he will concentrate on improving AI systems that examine daily health data, flag significant changes over time, and keep recommendations and guidance within clear safety parameters.

Data from the American Pet Product Association (APPA) indicates that 95 million households in the United States own pets, representing 71.6% of all households nationwide. Projections for 2026 estimate veterinary care and related product sales will hit $42.4 billion.

PerkyPet AI was created on the idea that pet health is influenced by everyday choices and behaviors occurring between veterinary appointments, not just during yearly checkups. The platform acts as a unified health record and intelligent tracking system enabling pet owners to monitor nutrition, behavior, activity, symptoms, medications, and other health indicators in a single location, simplifying the process of identifying changes in a pet’s condition over time.

“The AI field is filled with individuals who can produce impressive demonstrations, but healthcare-related applications—like the PerkyPet AI model—demand a distinct level of rigor,” said Tim Maliyil, co-founder and CEO of PerkyPet AI. “Pet owners trust us with decisions that affect the health of a family member. Jamal understands that trust, safety, and clinical precision are requirements for meaningful innovation, not limitations. He brings the technical expertise, operational discipline, and judgment we need as we move forward with building PerkyPet AI.”

Jackson’s hiring highlights PerkyPet AI’s dedication to responsible AI development in a healthcare-adjacent sector where transparency, accountability, and oversight are essential. Guided by the company’s veterinary advisors and medical leadership—including co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Dara Huang, MD, MMSc—Jackson will help guarantee that PerkyPet AI’s intelligence systems are constructed with the oversight, evaluation, and safeguards needed for real-world pet health applications.

PerkyPet AI is actively preparing for its Summer 2026 launch while continuing to grow its workforce, technology platform, and veterinary collaborations.
