In a heartwarming announcement that quickly spread across social media and the crypto community, Solana co-founder and CEO of Solana Labs Anatoly Yakovenko (widely known as Toly) has adopted a rescue dog named Trix from the Austin-based non-profit Happy Hearts Dog Rescue. The news originated from an official tweet posted earlier today by Happy Hearts Dog Rescue (@happyheartsdog).
The organization wrote:
“Big news from Happy Hearts! We’re thrilled to announce that Anatoly ‘Toly’ Yakovenko, founder of Solana, has adopted Trix! This sweet golden-brown mixed-breed pup is now part of Toly’s family. Huge thanks to Toly for choosing to adopt and give Trix a forever home filled with love, zoomies, and plenty of pets! #AdoptDontShop #HappyHeartsDogRescue”
About Trix
Trix is a two-year-old medium-sized mixed-breed dog (believed to be a Labrador Retriever and cattle-dog mix) with a short, soft coat of warm golden-brown fur, expressive brown eyes, and a distinctive white blaze on her chest. According to details shared by the rescue, she was pulled from a high-kill shelter in Texas after being found as a stray. Despite her earlier challenges, Trix has a gentle, affectionate personality—described by her foster family as playful, quick to learn, and especially fond of long walks, belly rubs, and quiet evenings on the couch. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and already house-trained. In her first hours with Yakovenko, she has reportedly claimed a favorite sunny spot near his home office and shown an immediate interest in the occasional Zoom call.

About Happy Hearts Dog Rescue
Happy Hearts Dog Rescue (@happyheartsdog) is a small, volunteer- and foster-based non-profit founded in 2018 in the Austin, Texas area by Alyson and Adri. Operating without a physical shelter of its own, the group focuses on rescuing dogs—many of them on “death row”—from high-kill municipal shelters across Texas and placing them in carefully screened forever homes. Since its founding, Happy Hearts has saved and rehomed more than 600 dogs. All animals receive full veterinary care (vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchipping) before adoption, and the organization provides ongoing support to new families. Adoption fees typically range from $250–$300 and help cover medical costs. The group’s model relies entirely on a network of dedicated foster homes and community donations. Yakovenko’s public adoption of Trix has drawn widespread positive reactions from both the Solana community and animal-welfare supporters, many of whom praised the move as a reminder that even leaders in high-tech fields make time for meaningful real-world acts of compassion.
