OTTAWA, Ontario, June 03, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Following weeks of energetic campaigning, intense rivalry, and more than 19,000 ballots cast by Canadians nationwide, the 2026 Cutest Pets on Parliament Hill contest has officially named its champions.
Organized by the Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI), this year’s pet-friendly awards ceremony took place on June 2 at Metropolitan Brasserie. It drew together parliamentarians, political staff, journalists, and their furry companions for a night dedicated to celebrating the happiness, camaraderie, and connection that animals bring to our lives — both within and beyond the Hill.
The victors are as follows:
- Cutest Dog 2026: Tuukka
- Cutest Cat 2026: Coco
- Cutest Other Pet 2026: Nugget
- Best Dressed Pet 2026: Bella
Now in its fourth iteration, the competition saw a record-breaking 142 entries from Members of Parliament, Senators, staffers, and Press Gallery members. Owing to the overwhelming response, CAHI increased the number of finalists in both the dog and cat categories from 10 to 15 for public voting.

The evening featured a town crier, pet-themed cocktails, red carpet moments, and plenty of playful paw-litics as finalists and attendees came together to honor the unique bond Hill Canadians share with their animals.
The contest not only highlights the vital role pets play in our lives but also underscores the importance of CAHI’s work in expanding access to veterinary medicines—helping ensure healthier animals for a healthier Canada.
