In a story that bridges the worlds of cryptocurrency and animal welfare, Anatoly Yakovenko—better known as Toly, the co-creator of the Solana blockchain—has brought home Sunshine, a gentle six-month-old yellow Lab mix puppy, from Happy Hearts Dog Rescue (@happyheartsdog). The uplifting update was first shared via the rescue group’s official X profile. In their announcement, Happy Hearts Dog Rescue stated:
“Huge news from Happy Hearts! We couldn’t be happier to share that Anatoly ‘Toly’ Yakovenko, founder of Solana (@solana), has adopted Sunshine! This lovely yellow Lab mix puppy is now part of Toly’s household. A massive thank-you to Toly for picking adoption and providing Sunshine with a permanent home full of affection, zoomies, and lots of pats! #AdoptDontShop #HappyHeartsDogRescue”
About Sunshine
Sunshine is a six-month-old female yellow Labrador Retriever & Great Pyrenees cross (also noted as a yellow Lab mixed breed). Her current weight is approximately 26–28 pounds, she features a medium yellow/tan/blond coat, and she is categorized as medium-sized. Characterized as energetic, amiable, and mild-mannered, she is both house-trained and crate-trained. Initially timid, she quickly becomes comfortable with people once she understands that affection and snacks are on offer, and she adores being around other dogs. Known for her calm demeanor combined with bursts of puppy energy outside, she then settles down to stay close by. Sunshine gets along well with other canines, felines, and kids, making her a flexible addition to any household. While in foster care, she received full vaccinations and was spayed. Adoption fees via the rescue generally fall between $250–$300 and include core vaccines, microchipping, deworming, spay/neuter, and preventive treatments.
About Happy Hearts Dog Rescue
Happy Hearts Dog Rescue (HHDR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer-driven, foster-home-only organization located in the Austin, Texas region. Founded in July 2018 by Alyson and Adri, the group rescues canines from high-intake shelters across Texas (many facing euthanasia) and functions solely through foster homes instead of a brick-and-mortar facility. It has found permanent homes for hundreds of dogs (more than 500–650 in recent years). The organization prioritizes careful matching, supplies fosters with necessary items, and sends dogs to new homes with familiar belongings such as food, beds, blankets, and toys to make the transition smoother. The adoption process includes an application, reference and veterinary checks, a meet-and-greet, a home inspection, a supervised play session, and frequently a trial period.
